Pune: In a shocking case, 20-year-old Siya Goyal and her lover, 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhary, were arrested for allegedly plotting and killing her fiancé, 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal, by pushing him into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18.
Police say the murder was premeditated. Siya had allegedly made multiple unsuccessful attempts to kill Ketan during earlier visits to the fort before finally carrying out the plan with Chetan’s help. The duo reportedly met at a café on the day of the murder to finalize the plot and identify a suitable location.
Investigators tracked Chetan through CCTV footage showing him following the couple while wearing a hoodie despite the 33°C heat. Technical evidence further revealed that Siya and Chetan had exchanged 2,004 phone calls totaling nearly 238 hours over the past seven months.
Police said Siya did not want to marry Ketan but was unwilling to break off the engagement due to concerns about her family’s reputation. Both accused have been arrested, and police describe the killing as a carefully planned conspiracy.
