Ramayana Trailer Unveiled at Brahma Muhurat: Why the Sacred Pre-Dawn Timing Matters

Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana is one of the most anticipated films of the year, bringing the timeless Hindu epic to the big screen on an unprecedented scale. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film features an ensemble cast including Sai Pallavi, Yash, Ravi Dubey, Sunny Deol, Vivek Oberoi, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, and Lara Dutta.

The trailer, initially expected to release on July 24, was postponed after producer Namit Malhotra announced a collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment. The first official glimpse of the World of Ramayana will now debut worldwide at 4:15 AM IST on July 30, a time chosen to coincide with the auspicious Brahma Muhurat.

In a social media announcement, the makers stated, “At the auspicious Brahma Muhurat, we welcome the dawn of Ramayana with our trailer.”

What Is Brahma Muhurat?

Unlike most film trailers, which are released during peak social media hours, Ramayana is taking a unique approach by unveiling its trailer before sunrise. While the timing may seem unusual, it holds deep spiritual significance in Hindu tradition.

Brahma Muhurat is the sacred period approximately 1 hour and 36 minutes before sunrise, ending 48 minutes before sunrise. Depending on the season and location, it generally falls between 3:30 AM and 5:30 AM.

This time is widely regarded as the most favorable period for meditation, prayer, learning, self-reflection, and spiritual practices. It symbolizes purity, clarity, wisdom, positive energy, and new beginnings, making it an ideal moment for religious and culturally significant events.

Across India, many devotees wake up during Brahma Muhurat to bathe, pray, chant mantras, or visit temples. Priests begin the day’s rituals by preparing temples, offering prayers, and performing early morning ceremonies. In many Lord Shiva temples, Abhisheka—the ritual bathing of the Shiva Linga with milk, water, honey, and ghee—is performed during these early hours. At the Kedarnath Temple, the revered Maha Abhishek Aarti is also held around this time.
