Washington: US President Donald Trump criticised the Senate after it passed a resolution aimed at limiting military action against Iran, calling the move “poorly timed” and “meaningless.”
Trump said the vote could weaken America’s position in ongoing negotiations with Iran and make his job harder. He claimed Iranian officials had questioned the significance of the Senate’s action during talks.
Although the resolution is largely symbolic and does not legally stop military action, it reflects growing concern among some lawmakers over US involvement in the conflict. Trump also criticized four Republican senators who voted in favor of the measure.
The vote comes as the US and Iran work on final details of an agreement aimed at ending tensions in West Asia.
